Yes, the Waxhaw Gazette has been mistaken repeatedly as a blog! Why? Simply put the average person out there doesn't know the difference. So. Just to set the record straight, here are the definitions:
Basically a Blog is a Diary, updated randomly with individual postings, generally indiscriminate in nature and without mandate.
Blog; a blend of the term web log is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with irregular entries of commentary, descriptions of events very much like a Diary. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Most blogs may be interactive, allowing comments and even message each other via widgets on the blogs.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual.

Online newspaper
The electronic version of a newspaper stored at a WEB SITE. Usually the newspaper consists of content found in a conventional newspaper supplemented by devices such as MAILING LISTS, EMAIL, DYNAMIC CONTENT, interactive competitions, and BANNER ADVERTS. Many conventional news organizations maintain Web sites which are almost exact replicas of their daily paper-based newspapers.
Oh and by the way, Gazette by Definition is;
n: a newspaper or official journal official document containing public notices, appointments, etc.
vb: to announce or report (facts or an event) in a gazette.
So, in summary, the Waxhaw Gazette is an electronic version of a newspaper, posted on a regular schedule, contains professionally written stories, editorial content and public service announcements... not just random entries. And just like its contemporaries (ie: the Observer, Enquirer, etc.) breadth and research are limited to support exhibited by local business support in the form of advertising.
