Everywhere you look the story is not the thousands of people killed or missing from the Tsunami, rather it is the Nuclear Meltdown that has everyone’s attention. Even Gadhafi's murderous shenanigans in Libya takes a backseat to this story!
Why? Because now an entire lifetimes worry and trepidation over nuclear holocaust is a reality. Over sixty years of experience with Nukes since the Genie first got out of the bottle and it seems we still haven't learned to treat this powerful Genie with the respect and caution it deserves.
For myself being a “boomer” it started as a child diving under my school desk during air raid warnings even though it was us that had “the bomb”, then the Russians got them and the term MAD was born (Mutually Assured Destruction)... what a world! Then the Chinese got it and France, India, Pakistan, Korea and now Iran not to mention terrorists efforts!

In the sixty plus years we have been living with Nukes, we were told besides being a mighty weapon, we could safely use Nukes for energy... clean, renewable energy. Yet the three times so far that the evil genie has gotten loose it was from these “safe” applications! Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and now Japan.
Are we scared? You better believe it. We have lived with that Nuclear Holocaust Nightmare for our entire lives. Now it is again a reality. Can it happen again? Of course it can. In our arrogance we believe we can overcome anything, fix anything. Only this isn't a car mat or even an oil rig. What price we will pay for not paying attention. Nuclear mishaps represent very long term deadly results.
And in our arrogance, we thought we had control. No wonder it tops the news at every turn!
