Blue Star

Every year I try to cover the Towns' Holiday Events with a new perspective and an eye for the unusual. This year weather and time permitted me to cover both the Tree Lighting and the Parade more in depth than before. For the Tree Lighting after capturing events and attendees with my trusty camera, I was able to return to the scene late one evening to shoot the just lights in all of their glory.

In choosing the location that I shot the parade this year, it accorded me a totally different and unique perspective to showcase the entries. The weather once again, decided to cooperate in that the earlier rains stopped before our event began and the sky, while letting in some sunshine, participated in the artistic form with dramatically beautiful winter clouds for a backdrop.

And I can assure those of you who didn't get out to the parade or perhaps watched it from a far more protected corner, “a blustery winter afternoon” certainly summed up the day. The composition on the opening shot of the Judges Stand where Holly Hensley sang the National Anthem, is particularly interesting in that it includes not only the judging booth, but the Veterans Wall and the Town Water Tower all making for a very interesting photo. One certainly not to be seen if the trees had any of their leaves left....
