Where is Winter

by John Tiley

I am sure this is not the first time in recorded history that we have gotten all the way to February with nary one lonely snow flake. I am sure it is a rarity though. And as far as I am concerned it just isn't right until we get at least a good dusting. Now don't get me wrong.... I grew up in the Mid-West and had a whole childhood filled with cold and snowy winters, so I DO NOT miss being snowed under for days at a time. However, one of the underlying reasons I picked this part of the country to move to is that traditionally there are four seasons here unlike places like California, Florida and Arizona and life just doesn't seem right without a changing of the seasons.

Now don't get me wrong... I am pleased at the lower than usual electric bill and the fact that my car stays cleaner longer than otherwise...

and I am sure Eric, Steve, Larry and all the rest of the Local Meteorologists can give us plenty of historical examples and scientific data in explanation, still it just isn't right. Perhaps its the little boy in me, but winter just isn't winter without at least a good coat of that white stuff to hide all the otherwise ugliness winter brings.

Yep, I am sure.... its just the kid in me wishing I was a youngster once again, on a toboggan, sliding down a snow packed hill.
